First of all, it was great to see Ethan back. Such a great kid & a very talented PG. He will be very instrumental to the teams overall success the rest of the way.
this game featured so many points in transition, many dunks, many forced turnovers, finally some made shots from the perimeter.
While USC failed to cover the point spread vs UCR on tuesday, they covered big time tonight (won by 27) lol take that NET rankings =)
Still amazes me how the group of transfers: Drew Peterson (Rice), Tahj Eaddy (Santa Clara), Chevez Goodwin (Wofford) & Isaiah White (Utah Valley) are all major contributors in the P12. Have to credit CAE & his staff for compiling this group of players & making them all buy into the team. Incoming transfers from all over have to be taking notice, right?
Evan & Isaiah Mobley were exceptional tonight. The high/low sets were a thing of beauty, the touch passes between the two for easy baskets, numerous dunks. Yes, even the older brother who has drawn some criticisms from myself has been playing really well as of late. The continuity should only carry over throughout the season, because they have done this practically all their lives.
The half court offense is dead set in feeding the post player right in the middle of the block/free throw line especially against a 2-3 zone. That causes the defenders to collapse and shift the zone. It seemed like every single time Evan or even Chevez would make the right read for an open shot.
Speaking of open shots, Noah, Drew and Tahj finally got it going from the perimeter. What a fun game to watch, and enjoyable to see them all root for each other. I still remember a few years ago when I wanted Mike Hopkins to become our head coach. Up next are the cougs. Much improved team. Keep an eye on the match up betwen Evan and their freshman C, Efe Abegidi. Fight on!
