  • Final possession of the game vs the Beavers

So CAE decides to have Drew penetrate the defense & first look is to give Evan an alley oop? Drew clearly had a clear good look to take that shot 5 feet away from the basket. As good as a player I think Drew is, he clearly is not ready at all to have the ball in his hands with the game on the line. So timid, so afraid...

Silva used his body to push out Mobley. Check the replay

get the ball to Evan I think Silva had four fouls not that that really would matter at the late stage of the game

I watched it live. He pushed him out & then kept bumping him when Evan put the ball on the floor. The refs are always going to be an issue but that’s besides the point...

I thought Evan might go up an score but yeah there was hip check

Game was lost at the 10 minute mark in the first half

I liked that play call. Basically giving Drew the option to shoot or give to Mobley or draw the foul. Mobley was definitely given a hip check.

Infuriating. They called every ticket tack foul on us and let Oregon State consistently hack us. Silva is a total hack

Eaddy seems like the only guy on the team who wants the big shot. Drew and Evan both didn’t want it. Ugly loss.

A good play design but Drew should have went for that floater. That’s his bread & butter!

Floater and the 3 after. He was in his own head all night. The turnovers, dumb foul on 3pt shooter, closed it out with being tentative twice.

Is it though? I'm so tired of us accepting how terrible the refs are in this conference. If I'm Enfield, I file a grievance. I'm so over this s**t.

At the end, it was bad free throws shooting. We will lose many close games if we continue terrible free throw shooting.

Enough with the refs. So tired of reading about the refs. We shot four more free throws and scored two less points. When you shoot 55% from the foul line and your point guard throws up a brick on a crucial one and one, you're going to lose close games. Sometimes the calls don't go your way but the better teams fight through this and win anyway. USC could have won this game but they played like crap and the free throw shooting, if it continues, will be its undoing. It's a miracle when we have a player hits two in a row. I. Mobley,2-6 this game and 47% on the year is beyond ridiculous already. Goodwin, is another who can't shoot free throws at all. If I am defending these guys I would send them to the line as much as possible. Mobley and Goodwin together shot 4-11 from the line. We lost by two. Sorry, can't blame the refs for that. We all knew that free throw shooting was going to cost us at some point and tonight was it.

Thank you for bringing up the last play which decided the game. Peterson had a shot, but totally blew the execution. He double clutched the pass/shot allowing Silva to close out on Evan and Evan was in no position to even try for a good shot. Evan kicked it out to a wide open Peterson who again double clutched into an off balance three attempt. It seemed like the 3s were there all night, but players didn't rise and shoot when they were open, even when they were on fire in the 2nd half. USC wouldn't have been in the game without Drew, but he made the wrong plays when it mattered and USC is leaving with a loss.

Ideally Ethan as the team's best ball handler and passer can be trusted in those situations though he had his own mixed performance in the clutch missing the front end of a 1 and 1 and bully balling his way to a an out of control foul/TO. Still a lot of potential for this team when they execute, and they better take Cal and Stanford more seriously if they expect to win on the road.
