Is it just me or does he instantly shrink about 6 inches? You see a 6’10” guy get the ball close the basket & you think this is 2 points. But with Isaiah a second later it seems like he’s in a forest of taller trees. On the bright side it should keep him here 2 or 3 more seasons.

When Isaiah Mobley gets the ball down low

He certainly is not money when he gets the ball down low.
It would be good to work on some signature low post moves when he is not working on his free throw shooting.
Tim Duncan had some nice clean low post moves, bank shots. He had Variations of shots; if a defensive guy tries to stop him from going right, he goes left. He had a nice little outside shot, using a pump fake.
Isaiah is a work in progress, needs time to build some more muscle, and needs to become a gym rat. He needs to go and play in the drew league. Evan and anyone on the USCS team would benefit from playing there.

The best part of Isaiah’s offense game is his low post work. He is very much a gym rat but his athletic ability is limited so he lacks some confidence. As he gets older and stronger he will become more crafty.

I didn't know Drew league was canceled. Too Bad,
Many players get better there. Some PRo go there to keep Sharpe. Some with Mamba mentality actually went there to work on an aspect of their game by going against some top talent.
Lemelo, Harden, and many others took their game to higher levels working on it there. It allows for some to work on specific aspects of their game; outside shooting, driving, defense, passing, confidence in ball handling. You can get significantly better-playing someone better than you.
I. Mobley's, one on one, down low moves needs a lot of work; NBA is not in his future unless he can get some consistency in his medium jump shot and his post moves. I really don't see any money moves in his game. You know how bigs, for example, the colorado big, he worked our guys down low. Guys like that know how to work their way down low, do a pump fake and spin around for a layup or a step-back jumper, etc.
He is a soph, he has time to take it up a notch, and I am sure he will if he has NBA aspirations.

For the most part, I don't have a problem with Mobley's low post game. He's got some crafty moves and takes good looks, it's when he tries to beat a double instead of finding his brother or kicking it out to a wide open shooter when Isaiah can get into trouble. Mobley will not make an NBA roster with his sub standard big man percentages 46%/26%/47% and low athleticism. Once he's able to up his percentages closer to his Evan's he'll get more interest from scouts. That's actually what ESPN's draft analyst, Mike Schmidt, said on the Oregon St. broadcast, even comparing Isaiah to Kyle Anderson. For USC to be a good team next year, Isaiah will have to make a big jump in production to help fill the void of Evan's departure.
As MNH stated, Drew League was canceled and I doubt Nike will bring it back until COVID isn't a risk. That's not to say that Isaiah isn't playing with pros, he did with EA this past offseason (see vid).Last edited by Eeks2284; 01-29-2021, 11:12 AM.

When he's going 1v1 and goes to his short hook, he's quite effective. It's when he gets surrounded he's almost incapable of powering through and scoring down low. One of the most underrated (maybe not) parts of Evan's game is powering up and dunking in traffic. I LOVE when he goes strong and finishes like that. It's impossible to stop without fouling. I feel like we have sorely missed this aspect from our big men until big O last year and Evan this. Nick and Nik were especially soft inside and would try to lay it in instead of dunking the ball.
