    I have been a lurker of this and the old forum but have been reluctant to join because others here know so much more about the game than I do. However, this team deserves our support and since we can't go to the games it seems like a good time to sign up.
    Of all the things that impressed me about last night's game I think that one of the most encouraging was the play of Taj Eaddy. His ball handling and quickness really stood out, whether it was to draw defenders and then dish off or to work his way in for a shot like that last fall-away which was a thing of beauty. There is a lot to like about this team but I love the energy of Taj's game.
    I could never be a basketball coach because I wouldn't have the patience to leave a player like Max in when he misses a point blank shot or commits a foolish turnover. But then he makes a huge 3 and a monumental steal and slam. I'm not savvy enough to recognize and appreciate all the things that he does on defense but he seems to be gaining confidence and I think that Coach Enfield deserves a lot of credit for the way that Max's game is developing.
    Nice to see Drew bounce back after a couple of sluggish games. I read somewhere about the calmness that he and the other transfers bring to the team and I think that is a big reason that this team seems to play better down the stretch. When it comes to calm and steady players though it doesn't seem to get any better than Evan. He is so consistent that I think that I take his contributions for granted. What a blessing it is to have a player of his caliber on this team. After losing Rak and "Big O" last year I never thought that our interior game could improve but I think it has. What would happen if last year's team played this year's? F.O.

    Last year team isn't as good. This team is better defensively. The transfer are older and more mature players that don't get rattled under pressure. Although the shooting has been inconsistent this year, the misses are usually wide open shots. Last year's team made more boneheaded plays and would take questionable shots at times.

      big O vs Evan would be one hell of a matchup

    I think Eaddy is the key to how far we go. I don't think we can have a lead guard/PG that isn't a scoring threat, so having Eaddy start/play more feels like the right prescription. EA may be a better passer but if the opponents' guards are sagging the best player(EM) is not open. With more reps for Taj I like the idea of the game in his and Evan's hands, like last night.

      It’s funny that there are easy direct individual player comparisons between this year’s team and last year’s. The biggest difference is probably Drew over Elijah.

      My opinions so far:

      Evan = Big O
      Isaiah M 21 > Isaiah M 20
      Ethan 21 > Ethan 20
      Max 21 > Max 20
      Tahj < Jonah
      Chevez < Rak
      Isaiah W > Daniel U
      Noah <= Q Adlesh
      Drew >> Elijah

        I really like this comparison. I don't have the PAC 12 network so I haven't seen a lot of Ethan and I know that he's been out with a back injury but, so far, I haven't noticed an improvement over last year. Last year I remember him having some big games like Villanova and UCLA.

        Agree mostly... But
        Ethan (end of season) 20 > now, but I'm confident he'll get back into form.
        Yeah, I'd take Jonah of Tahj, but tahj at the end of the season could be even better.
        I'd need to peak at the stats for Goodwin vs. Rak, Rak was an explosive player with some good moves, but his hot headedness cost us and he had a quiet senior year. I enjoy how consistent and level headed goodwin is.
        Utomi > White, he was huge from 3 for us.

        Rest is good.

        I’d say Tajh and Jonah are about equal given Tajh is more consistent and clutch.

        Also think Noah brings more to the table than Adlesh.

          Worth noting that Chavez Goodwin only played 9 minutes yesterday, with 2 points and 2 rebounds. Anyone know what his minutes were limited? He usually plays twice as many minutes.

            I'd say the fact that we were behind most of the time meant starters were in - then Max was doing a bang up job on defense so he stayed in a lot as well.
        Working...
