This is from one of those “anonymous” coaches talking to Seth Davis.

I wonder sometimes about these types of stories — being anonymous you would think we’d get better insights, but this is fairly bland and mostly self evident to anyone who’s not a coach.

USC: “They have great length and athleticism, especially in the post. Getting Ethan Anderson back helps, but he still needs a few more weeks to get into shape. It’s tough to score around Evan Mobley at the rim. They’ll kick your ass on the glass if you let ’em. You gotta be physical. It’s better not to help off Mobley, get physical with him. Isaiah Mobley is skilled, but he’s gotta get tougher. I’m not sure he likes to mix it up. Their shooting is a question mark. You can sag off some of their guys. They just funnel everything to those big bastards. If you have a stretch four that can draw them away from the basket, you have a chance to score.”

Good find. The paragraph on Stanford discussing Oscar Da Silva discredits the whole article though

Agree. He's a good player but this notion that he's the best in the conference hands down is a joke.

I actually got a question answered in Dana O'Neil's Mailbag.

When are the USC Trojans going to get the recognition they deserve? They have one of the top players in the country in Evan Mobley. They are also one of the top defensive teams in the country. I realize everyone thinks the Pac-12 is a weak conference, but it’s ridiculous the lack of respect the Trojans receive. — Mitchell R.

You’re right. It is time, Mitchell (insert Rafiki music here). The Trojans have been victimized by the general meh of the Pac-12, but that doesn’t negate their worth. Truth be told, USC has all the things you’re looking for in a good NCAA Tournament pick — per KenPom.com they’re 25th in offensive efficiency and 12th in defensive efficiency, and in Mobley they have a transcendent player who can carry a team in March. They’re also 3-1 in Quad 1, and although UCLA fans might put an asterisk next to that loss over the weekend (the Bruins were down two bigs against Mobley — not ideal) that the Trojans handled the game as methodically as they did says something.

I wish they had some nonconference meat on the bone to help ease the worry about just winning in the Pac-12, but plenty of teams around the country are in the same situation. And none of them have Mobley.
