  • Coach Enfield and Isaiah Mobley post-game quotes

    Coach Enfield

    On ASU's defensive strategy.
They doubled big on big. Isaiah does a good job sealing guards on the weak side.

With Evan's passing ability and Isaiah's skill I thought they were a great combination tonight.

    On Isaiah Mobley.
He was just terrific on both sides of the ball. Isaiah has been our most consistent defender most of season. Has really improved defensively. He rebounds at a high level, especially offensive boards. He just played spectacular tonight.

On USC's second half defensive prowess
We didn't allow a field goal in the final 6:15.

The game is 40 minutes and we've been very good in the last five minutes of games, especially on the road. That's the key to winning close games, especially when the game on the line.

    On Peterson playing better
He played much harder in 2nd half, in the 1st half his defense was way below par but in the 2nd half he bounced back. We need more of that from him, he's such an important part of our team.

    On Remy Martin
When he's making permineter shots, he's so tough to stop. He's such a quick ball handler, with step backs, change of direction, and change of speed. We gave him a little too much space in the 1st half but we changed coverage in the 2nd. He still scored on our guards and bigs, he just played a great offensive game tonight.

On the big national matchup against Arizona this Saturday at 3 p.m. PT on Fox Sports National.
It will be a great game for our league and for us, and Arizona.

    Isaiah Mobley

    On the team's attitude
We're having a tremendous amount of fun. It's all we can do without our fans who we know are cheering us on. I think if weren't having as much as we do, we wouldn't be in the position we are in today.

On the team sharing the ball
When we're selfless it creates a lot of opportunity or everyone. We had a lot of guys in double figures and that is what comes from selflessness.

On sinking his two free throws against WSU when they fouled him on purpose
It did a lot for my confidence, thank you to WSU for that!

On whether this team is aware of the history they might make
We know what's ahead, we just try to take it game by game. We know we have the ability to win the Pac-12 championship which is the first goal and then we hope to roll that over into March Madness. Me and Ethan had that taken away from us last year so we sort of have a chip on our shoulder about it. We know it's coming but we just want to take it game by game.

ESPN keeps showing this graphic where Evan Mobley's passing and handles are graded a B. Do you think he saw it? He had 7 assists (including some absolute dimes to his brother), he took a steal coast to coast for a slam, and he also broke the press by himself once.

I’ve seen that several times on ESPN. For a big man he has to be graded an A on passing and ball handling skills. He is a selfless passer who gets more than his share of assists. He can also handle the ball and dribble up the court on any big man.

That never made any sense to me. They were showing that during the Wazzu game as well. He certainly isn’t in the level of a KD, who is more of a guard than he is a big but come on...grade his handles on a curve!!!

He would be leading the league in assists if we shot the 3 better or basketball counted hockey assists. So many missed 3s or a second pass from his that actually does lead to points.
