  • Some big plays from Max Agbonkpolo tonight

Max hit a dagger 3 when Oregon cut the lead to 10 points with 3 minutes to play.
He hit two big free throws down the stretch to help maintain the lead.
Played good defense for most of the game. Got his hands on several passes.
Was active and ran the floor well.
    No turnovers.

One of the more enigmatic players on the team I think. Sometimes he makes the most frustrating plays but then he does something spectacular that makes your jaw drop. Slowly but surely, however, he seems to be trending upward. At first I thought that some moments were too big for him but he does seem to play well late in games when the pressure is on.

It was Max's best game. But missing a dunk and turn overs from missing shots, and let his man score offset his production. At least he was a net positive yesterday.

I wouldn't say he missed a dunk. The Oregon guy made a great block. Max went up strong which was the right thing to do in that situation.

I thought he played very well. He didn't try to do too much, which has been a problem for him.

Yep, this is the key - If Max just sticks to what he CAN do - solid defense, fast break points and well run O, getting to our scorers, he's a solid addition to the team.

I thought Max’s D on Duarte last night was very solid, prevented him from getting a lot of good looks

Nice post. I thought it was Max's best game to date. Hopefully this gives him the confidence going forward. Nice to see coach support him. Fight on Max

            Really solid game from Max!!
Love when he takes it strong to the basket.
Also gives him some confidence to start the game.
Played within himself, let the game come to him ✌

I'm surprise he hasn't claim Max can't defend Duarte and missed 3 of 5 shots.

Ridiculous reference - as if you watched the ucla game?!?! Maybe you listened on the radio? ..cause you obviously did not WATCH the game. If you did, you would have noticed that Max was responsible for JJ very few minutes that game. Maybe 5 or 6? Let's call it 9 minutes. Yeah - OK. Johnny Juzang had a rough night shooting, and IT WAS MAX THAT DID IT ALL!!

Juzang played TWICE as many minutes as Max did! Thirty Five to Eighteen. LMAO

NOT TO MENTION WE PLAYED ZONE FOR LONG STRETCHES!

Wasn't this the game Max won with a buzzer beater?!?

                  Eyes open, playas. Eyes open.

Max played 25 minutes last night. 7 points (2/5 with 1/2 3-pt, and 2/2 from FT), 2 Reb, 0 TO, 0 PF. Based on the fact that Goodwin only played 12 minutes, sounds like CAE went to a 4 guard lineup to handle Oregon's pressure and Max was a guy he trusted. Didn't hurt that Peterson and Anderson had 18 rebounds (11 and 7) between them.

Max's dad posted on the P, was nice to see him post about his son (Max gets criticized there too).

Max is settling in with this team. Gaining confidence with the confidence the coaching staff has in him. He doesn't look tentative, deer in the headlights, any more. The game is finally slowing down for him. Using his length well on def

Some of you are hilarious. This was Max's best game for sure! I'm stoked for him to have contributed. But Holy Cow & Sweet Jeebus are some people drinking the Max Kool Aid! LMAO

                      Wooooo-hooooo! LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Max hit one of two of his a 3 point shots with and protected a 10 point lead. Great!

Kool-Aid down. Beers up! This was not a pedestal-worthy moment. He didn't save us. It was a solid performance....and I was happy to see it. I mostly appreciated that that Max played within himself. He wasn't jacking up every open outside opportunity (shooting a whopping 20% on the season), yet he had the courage to continue to take the "right" open shots. (Shooters have to have short memories.) He played the game without a statistical TO (despite a handful of missed positive play opportunities). Because I want Max and all of our players to succeed, I'm not going to bash his shortcomings, and I'm going to recognize him for this solid performance. There were some obvious things to be critical of, but this is not the moment. The bright spotlight is on Max on these message boards, and I have been as critical of this fine young man as anybody. Kudos to Max Agbongkpolo for this solid game!

Fight On Max. Keep up the good work! Keep improving.

Do you remember when you specifically told me that Max had never made an important play and that you would be “watching with a pencil and paper” to catalogue things? You didn’t bother to do that because it didn’t fit your agenda.

You were, once again, wrong. Just admit it and move on.

Did I not mention his mentionable plays? I mean, he did play twenty-five-minutes (62.5%of the game). I hope he made some positive plays.

                          7 points (2/5 with 1/2 3-pt, and 2/2 from FT), 2 Reb, 0 TO, 0 PF 0 STL 0 BLK

I'm keeping it positive. Max had some nice plays against Oregon. I was watching and did note them all. I thought his late pass over the top to beat the press was another positive play I did not mention. It was by no means a perfect, or breakout game, but yes - in Max's 25 minutes of court time, he did some nice things out there, and I was happy for him. if you want to digress, there were a handful of negatives we could discuss, but I'd like to keep this as such: Max did his thing. Despite my skepticism, it was a good game, and he took a nice step forward imo. MNH, if it's important to you, you "win" this round. ...and I hope you keep on winning!
