  • We had one to give...and we need a 3rd scorer

Winning at least a share of the conference and having the number 1 seed in the conference tournament is still ours to lose. 3-0 to end the season does it.

This game will give the committee doubt if we belong as a 4 seed, getting stomped by another tournament team. Need to make a statement the next 3 games.

two things that determine if we win: rebounds and a 3rd scoring option.

UConn: only Evan above 10 points and out rebounded
Colorado x 2: Evan and Tahj above 10 and out rebounded
Oregon State: won the rebound battle, but only Drew and Evan above 10
Arizona: Evan and Tahj above 10 and out rebounded

The game plan to beat USC is simple: let anyone besides Tahj shoot. Someone has to break that slump or the game falls on our forwards being able to snag offensive rebounds, which they have struggled with when matched up against guys who can match our size with their bulk and toughness.

We match up really well with the remaining teams on our schedule. Opposing teams have to be able to get physical with our bigs and crash the boards. Arizona and Colorado have the guys to do that, but Utah, UCLA and Stanford really don't, so they'll have to depend on hot shooting. I like our chances to finish out 3-0 and win the conference.

I like our odds as well but Stanford honestly feels like a coin toss, at least based on how last game went.

They're talented, well coached, and play hard. Thankfully we get them at home this team.

Yeah, we have them at home and we'll possibly be playing for a conference crown. I like our chances in that scenario.

Stanford and UCLA have the talent to beat us with hot shooting. If we are going to defend the perimeter as poorly as we did tonight, I wouldn’t call those gimme games.

I am thrilled we still control our own destiny this late in the year, but very also concerned about the doctor jeckell and mr hyde nature of our teams offensive output beyond Evan and Tahj. That’s scary come March.

Oh, I am not saying they are gimme games. I'm saying we have the personnel advantage going in. Obviously, anything can happen in college basketball.

As for defending the perimeter, let's get real, Horne was making some crazy shots tonight, the same way Tajh was going off against Oregon. Really hard to game plan around that.

You are right we don't have a consistent third scorer. It's a rotation, but at least we have several options.

Perimeter defense is also a common theme in our recent loses. Oregon state, AZ, and CO all shot 40%+ from outside.

we need to be able to offset a hot shooter with one of our own! Unfortunately only Evan and Tahj can be counted on to step up.

Baumann is supposed to be our better shooter. When he made 2 of his first 3 shots, maybe CAE should let Baumann stay in the game longer to take advantage of his hot shooting. Well, who knows?

I'd love that. Our need for another perimeter shooter has been a constant this season. Noah is the perfect kid to get more minutes and see what he can do with 10-15 mpg. I have a feeling he'd come through. ...and boy could we use that outside boost!

Yeah, the airball on the last 3 he took didnt look good, but trying to keep up with them on the offensive end may be a better strategy when the defense just isn't there. I say its worth looking into a shooting lineup...

Yeah - that shot was rushed, and we were desperate at that point. Noah is also pressing a bit, for sure. Minutes might calm him down and get him rolling!

That airball was bad but he hit two great shots before that. For a kid struggling with confidence I felt it was not a great strategy to pull him immediately after that.

The whole key is Isiah, Peterson, and Nathan play a decent game.
If they do the other team can’t concentrate on Evan and Eaddy.
And White and Goodwin get involved also.
