Given our lack of quality guard play, this season has been remarkably successful. Enjoy it, but also realize the necessary roster changes in the offseason. Andy was great on the transfer market and I trust he’ll do well again.

Same problem for eight years: roster construction. Never have had it all together at one time.

That game was an abomination. I just wish I could find somebody I could blame.

even if you have shave off the first two years since the roster was so bad, that's 6 years and the same issues.

Agree. Still a successful season, just looks like we aren't going to get the brass ring that we hoped for. It's not easy and we can't act like it's something that's going to just fall in our laps.

The only scholarship "guards" on the team who came as freshmen are EA and Waters who doesn't play. Eaddy and Evan who are both generally reliable contributors didn't show up and that's a big reason why USC lost. Peterson was the only one who showed up tonight. Utah isn't the most athletic team, but countless players on the team thought they could just run blindly past them for easy buckets on their home court which instead became ugly turnovers. Everyone played slow or out of control, so the fatigue of the season is catching up to them, which is odd because even players who don't play heavy minutes are playing slow.

Won't be surprised if there are a couple transfers out after the season's over. Players that have been in the program long enough just aren't playing smart and producing. That the coaching staff is making promises to players like Burnett that they'll get to play 35+ min a game is telling.

These kind of posts drive me crazy. You would think that USC was 6-19, not 19-6. We've played like dogshit the last two games, but let's not act like this isn't a good team with good players. That's really unfair to the players and the coaches.

When I saw the schedule and that we were playing Utah 2nd I was worried. The way they played against UCLA the other night I have a feeling we would have beat them if we had played them first. The same thing happened last year losing to Colorado first and then laying an egg against Utah. We expend too much effort playing the good team and then come out flat against the inferior team. Hopefully we can finish strong like last year when we won our final 3 games after losing to Utah handily.

UCLA beat Utah by double digits last year too so it's pretty much deja vu. Not really fair UCLA got the schedule advantage 2 years in a row on the Mountain trip.

Our consistent studs (Evan and Eaddy) didn't show up. When they show up, USC is a good team and a big reason why USC is 19-6. The whole team except for Drew played horrible, but the types of mistakes some of the rotation players were making might mean they find a new team that gives them more leash/PT to develop. Kind of like O'Bannon, Usher and Weaver did, all players I had tremendous hopes for but that didn't pan out and reach their potential. That doesn't take away from the great year the team has had, though they don't look like a sweet sixteen contender like they did a week ago. The team is slumping and this isn't the best time to slump.

Like the OP said, I hope USC's squad next year without a lottery pick type talent is a good one, but there's a good chance the coaching staff will have another tough task of getting a ton of new players to come together as a team.

You recruit what you can get. Whiffed on Christopher and Williams, stacked team with transfers to make something of this year. McLaughlins and Meltons don’t grow on trees

Actually I think Eaddy has been better than we had any right to expect. We had been counting on Sturdevant and Weaver before the storm hit.

Remy Martin, Kihei Clark, Scottie Pippen Jr all seem like lead guards in USC's backyard who could have followed up J-Mac with success but it seems like the team didn't go after them hard enough.

First time all year both Eaddy and Evan played poorly. And that’s the result you get.

This is one of those games that makes me wonder what the heck Enfield is doing. But this is the first time all season I’ve felt that way. Win out and conference coach of the year is in the bag.

Staff tried & they tried very hard on Jared Butler (Butler), Ayo Dosunmu (Illini), Nico Mannion (UofA/NBA), Tre Mann (Florida) & Andrew Nembhard (transferred to Zags). I agree they missed out badly on Remy especially looking back on how the 2017 class ended up. Hopefully there is some genuine interest with Nimari Burnett this time around & they bring in Seth Trimble for the 2022 class.

Unless a local player really hates LA and isn't getting love from a blue blood/UCLA, USC should have the inside track. Who doesn't want to play in front of friends and family every home game?

I can comment on each of these individually. Kihei and Scotty weren’t highly regarded. Kihei was 5’9 160 which makes him a liability against bigger guards. Only high major offer was UVA, even after he dominated Peach Jam. Scotty had 2 high major offers: Vandy and WSU because he lacked size and athleticism. He’s been fantastic at Vandy, much better than Kihei. Keep your eye on that if he decides to transfer. With Remy, the thought was that he was erratic (still true). He’s awesome when he’s cooking but the bad is very bad. He also got kicked out of (but reinstated to) Sierra Canyon after he filmed someone blowing him as an underclassman, so character concerns played a role there, hence ASU.
