I support Enfield, and he has upgraded the program. But these last two games were downright embarrassments. No matter what type of season, his teams hit a rut late in the year, and play foolish basketball.
Hope they got it out of their system, or they may not win another game this year, and certainly won't win a game in the tournament
Interestingly, this is his best February ever but at the same time still could miss out on the conference title. The PAC isnt even that competitive (unlike the Floyd years).
I understand that people want to lash out, but let's be constructive and stop acting like it's Enfield's fault that almost every single player on the team decided to dog it. This one was really on the players and their lack of effort and focus.

Which brings up the point that even doing well overall in February means nothing. You just have to win games when you play them. The month doesn't matter. A game in late December matters just as much.

They played without heart. Coach can’t get them up for must win game. He gets blame.

The players are the ones on the court, but it’s Enfield’s responsibility to get them motivated before, and during the game. I can’t speak as to what his specific approach to this is, but the last two games it was not working.
The approaches to motivation are different for different players and groups. Ed O bought his guys Roscoe’s. Mike Montgomery (as I alluded to) shoved Allan Crabbe in the huddle. If you don’t recall, he torched SC in the second half leading Cal to victory at Galen (2013 I believe). And Tad Boyle certainly does something very effective to his players every time they play USC. Something different needs to be done to shake these guys up. The RDW strategy backfired but at least that was SOMETHING.

I guess man. A coach shouldn't have to get guys up for this kind of game. We all watched it. Not even Evan was himself. He looked two steps slow all night. How do you account for that as a coach?

Bench him. Send that message that no one is above playing poorly.

He did sit for long stretches. But the guys who replaced him also played like shit. This was a total team meltdown. Not on any one guy. This is ultimately on the coach, but given how well the team has played overall this year, the players bear some blame too.
