  • Let's Think for a Second...

Look, I get that emotions are high right now as we suffer two straight road losses and one to a team we should have definitely beat. But we need to all take a deep breath and think for a second. People on this forum, especially me have been too quick to jump right back into being salty and butthurt.

I'll admit, I've been a little too overcritical of Coach Enfield, especially after that tough loss last night; but we have to realize what he has done for this program. Going into this season we had a bunch of no-name transfers. The only thing that we could be excited about was the fact that we got a top 3 recruit. All of the sports analysts had us in the middle of the PAC-12, and possibly missing the NCAA tournament. But look what Enfield has done; he has turned this almost rag-tag-like group into a good team. Just imagine what next year will be like if we just get slightly better transfers. Admittedly, we won't have a top 3 recruit, so things will have to adjust depending on who we get, but that is a story for another time.

Anyways, look at us now, we are 19-6, and in contention for the PAC-12. Sure, we have suffered some bad losses, but don't all teams do? Hell, Illinois got upset by MSU, so did OSU. All teams go through rough patches, and obviously near the end of the season isn't the best time to have one.

We still have 2 more games in the regular season + the PAC-12 tournament + the NCAA tournament. There is still a lot that can still happen within that 3 week time period. Good or bad. Let's finish off the season first, and if we don't do good in any of those places, then the criticism can go right ahead. You can bet if we don't do good in those places, I will have a lot to say, but for now, let's have a little hope, and maybe we can achieve something. Fight On!

Really appreciate this great post. It’s essentially what I’ve been trying to get across. The season is still going on. When the off-season hits, let’s have a lively and spirited discussion on here on what could have been and what went right or wrong. We can really break it down because we’ll have all the info we need to assess. With the season still ongoing, I want to focus on constructive support of the program. It’s just better for everyone’s mental health and a better way for this site to develop into a place of support for USC Basketball. Thanks again.

Well stated by the OP. I have some issues with Enfield, and his teams seems to hit the skids around this time of year. But if you look at the big picture, he has elevated the program, and outside of Kevin Porter, has avoided knuckleheads that drag programs down. Overall, I think we are lucky to have him

Agree totally. Coach Enfield turned around our BB program 180 degrees and climbing in the right direction.

Agree. Overall, it has been a very positive season exceeding expectations. If you asked me at the beginning of the season what would make me happy, it would be to finish in the top 1/3 of the conference. We have a chance to do that and more.

No two ways about it. Andy Enfield has been amazing for our program. What a blessing that such a good man has been able to bring significant success to our program in his tenure. I remember being so devastated when the whole Floyd thing blew up after a successful run in the NCAAs, and a top recruiting class. (Oh, what could have been.) Andy has surrounded himself with a great staff, and he has USC on the map again!

"Rag-tag bunch of no-name transfers," however, is not exactly accurate. Anybody paying close attention knows how coveted Tahj Eaddy was. Major programs were after him hard as a proven commodity, but CAE brought him home, so kudos!

Excellent post. This is how I feel about our team and program. It is human nature, we enjoy the highs when winning and take it really hard when losing. But I read somewhere we have played 7 games in 16 days.. That may be a lot for wear and tear even for these kids, esp for some of our guys that plays huge minutes like our top players, E. Mobley and Eaddy. The team just look tired, played flat and with no legs to play and complete last weekend.

I'm normally positive, so forgive me for saying the last two games ddontworyboutit ... LOL .. We need to win our next two games and we need help from Oregon to lose one game to win regular Pac 12 title.

                Fight On!
