  • One player away....

How many times in the CAE's tenure have we longed for one more solid guard. I've lost count. We need to become a destination for 4⭐-/5⭐ guards. I'm sure this season will open some eyes, so a deep run would be fantastic! What a difference one well-selected backcourt stud would make. Time will tell if Reese is that guy, but looking back....

...can you imagine if local boy (Sierra Canyon/Chatsworth) 6'0" 155 lb Remy Martin had chosen SC?

    Just sayin.

Or Matt Bradley, or Jordan Schakel

Remy Martin got kicked out of Sierra Canyon before being reinstated and hasn’t shot above 35% from 3 since his Freshman year. Not to mention he doesn’t defend or share the ball at all. It’s been well documented how I feel about Ethan Anderson but let’s not act like Martin is some savior. It’s easy to arm chair quarterback these things

Agree, but it's sure fun to think "what if?" ...especially when we've felt like we were one more guard away from unlocking greatness. Martin was just an example. Plug in whomever you want from So Cal within reason, and it's fun to imagine. Remy could handle the press, and make people pay for doubling - something that doesn't happen much at ASU. With our bigs, he would also have had more space. All speculative.

I’m saying is you’d have a much better case with Pippen Jr. who’s way better than Remy. That kid is a damn good college player

Remy is now a two-time All PAC-12 First Team player. I think he might have fit in just fine. Just sayin.

Even Zaon Collins. Perhaps leaving home would have avoided the tragedy he is accused of and given us a lead guard.

it’s truly baffling why a top PG has yet to sign since J-Mac. We can offer them all the minutes they want and a great supporting cast.

We had a 5 star transfer in Derryck Thornton who scared recruits away for a year or two. His flame out as a player killed us.

And that’s totally ok considering the talent within a 30 mile radius around Los Angeles alone

Jordan Schakel, last I checked I'm more of a PG than him. And no he is not better than Drew

Let’s agree to disagree on this one and i’m a huge fan of Drew’s!

I like the development of Schakel at SD State (really good coach and program), but he is a wing and not a PG. Through his ups and downs this season, my FAV is Drew. Does everything. Yes he hit a slump and lost some confidence, but man, he can go to hoop at will, rebounds, extremely good passer, great kid and despite the slump he can shoot the rock. USC is very fortunate to have Drew in the program.

Totally agree on Drew. ...and like Evan and Tahj, Drew has exceptional touch going to the rim. So stoked he's a Trojan!

I remember it being discussed on the old forum that the basketball program hasn't had good relations with Long Beach Poly and Mater Dei as well despite the football program's success with them. Which explained why players like Peyton Watson and Bol Bol didn't really consider us. Though hopefully Harrison Hornery has success with us more Mater Dei recruits consider us again.

It’s as simple as imagine if Okongwu stayed (though of course he ABSOLUTELY made the right decision going pro).
