CAE needs a deep tourney run or keeping him around should be questioned. That’s his main point. Idiotic but was pleased he thought enough about SC basketball to write a column about it! Thoughts?

If anyone wants to revisit that "seminal" article here is a link below. I wrote Plaschke after we plastered the UGLIEs the following year and his reply was
"if the usc fans spent as much time hyping carson palmer for heisman as they did saying, 'nah-nah-nah-nah'
he might have a chance...I have written two carson-for-heisman columns, yet received scant e-mail about that..I have received much more e-mail asking me if I was going to "retract last year's column, which was true at the time, but, agreed, it looks totally foolish today"

Bill Plascke is a moron, and his premise that Enfield needs a deep tourney run to avoid the hot seat is also moronic. He also wrongly stated that Eaddy travelled at the end, when he was clearly fouled. He made it clear that ucla was missing Juzang, but never mentioned that Isiah White wasn't playing.
He is mental midget, and he must feel right at home at the LA Times.

It’s funny, over on the Bruin forum they all swear it was a travel by Eaddy because he slid on the ground. I haven’t pored over the replay, but I saw it as a foul. The announcers, who were making plenty of excuses for the refs, also saw it as a foul. There was certainly more contact than the two “moving screens” called against SC.

The refs swallowed their whistles on the Eaddy play which was an obvious foul. Eaddy did lose his balance but there was still contact where a foul should have been called. Since the foul wasn't called, traveling is the proper call. Pac-12 has the worst refs in all of college basketball. Where do they find these guys? I saw referees at the Rucker league in Harlem.

Plaschke isn't as dumb as he looks. He's only interested in controversy -- which attracts attention. In other words, it's just click-bait. Taking him seriously is playing into his hands.

Totally agree. Topically, his points are moronic. His career success is related to the attention people give to his inflammatory statements, regardless of how moronic they are. I truly don't think he cares if his angle is completely slanted or idiotic. He's an expert at getting attention, but he is a pathetic excuse for a human being.
Plaschke sold his soul to the devil decades ago.

Also he wrote that SC has qualify for the tourney twice in 8 years. He counted this year when in reality it was twice in 7 years and you cannot count last year because we were going to the tourney. Also in 2019 we were the last team out and as we all know should have made the tourney that year. So if you count this year and last year Enfield has made the tourney 4 times in 8 years and should have been 5 in 8 years. This is also not taking in consideration that he had zero talent the first two years so in my eyes he really has only missed the tourney once during his tenure.

On my record book from the bottom of my heart, CAE has taken USC to the NCAA tourney 4 out of the last 5 seasons.
Including this season, CAE's record is going to be 5 tourney appearances out of 6 seasons. A job well done.
Of course, when Plaschke commented with his biased glasses on, he won't mention the details.
