Computer rankings don't mean as much as you think.
We have some pros and cons to our resume.
Pros:
1. A solid 8-4 record away from home.
2. 4-2 record away from home against Quad 1
3. A decent non-conference SOS at 45
4. Top 20 computer rankings in every metric but Sagarin
5. No Quad 3 or 4 losses to ding us with, unlike teams like Colorado, UVA, Purdue, Florida State
Cons:
1. 3 Quad 2 losses, more than anyone in the Top 25 of NET
2. A mediocre Quad 2 record on the road (2-2)
3. A 76th ranked SOS
4. Only 1 win against Quad 1A (BYU)
5. Not as many Quad 1 games as the Big Ten, SEC and Big 12
I am skeptical that we can get to a 3. Obviously it is wildly dependent upon what other teams do, but my guess is the only path to 3 is...
1. An Oregon win tonight (could move them into the top 30 of NET which adds another Quad 1 win for us)
2. A neutral site Quad 1 win over Colorado in the Pac-12 Tourney
3. Another meeting with Oregon in the championship game and a win over them.
Those three things would get us to 7-3 against Quad 1, 6-2 away from home against Quad 1, and would also get us at least 1 and maybe two more wins against Quad 1A. That would take our resume from good to excellent. It would also require us to play WAY better against Colorado then we have in the past and to follow that up with a win over Oregon.
Here is out NCAA team sheet as of yesterday's win.
