  • More aggressive Evan

Is what I like to see, especially when our 3 point shooting is not doing well. Even if he is double teamed. He is a good FT shooter and get opposing team in foul troubles.

Just because he's doubled team doesn't mean he's going to the free throw line for it

If Evan shoots though double teamed, he will likely be fouled.

Simply getting him the ball within 10 feet of the hoop makes good things happen. He's particularly good in the high post.

If doubled, he's great at making the right pass out of the double team. If he's not, there's a pretty good chance it's a bucket or a trip to the FT line.

Sometimes Evan being aggressive results in a double/triple team and turnover. Evan is going to be a high draft pick for not forcing things and being enough of a threat to draw defense or fight for boards and put backs. Up to the guards to set the offense or punish a collapsing defense so Evan can operate with efficiency.

One thing I hope he does is take more of the wide open jumpers at 10-12 feet inside the key instead of trying to force it deeper into heavier traffic and as a result turning it over or missing an off balance shot. He has shown that he is deadly with that short jumper, and it is impossible to block.

I actually believe that his lack of aggressiveness is going to cost him a draft slot or two. it seems obvious to me. I've been calling for him to turn up his intensity for a while. Yes, Evan is ridiculously good and talented, but he needs to learn to use his talent and body to get to the free throw line more often - putting pressure on defensive players, getting them in foul trouble, and knocking down FTs at over 70%, which he's still doing. Evan needs to utilize pump-fakes to get to the FT line more, and he needs to commit to going to the basket with a few more moves each game. He still allows defensive pressure - often with only one defender - to prevent him from attacking inside. When he is able to get to the stripe for at least 10+ shots per game, and earn 8-10+ fouls per game, he will take that next step. It'll happen. I just hope it happens this season.

As a good example, Onyeka Okongwu went to the free throw line 21 times on Nov. 19, 2019, knocking down 17.

False narrative. Evan actually leads the team in TO. Most coaches will not recommend players to force shots over double teams. Terrible strategy.

The original poster here. What I said was to shoot especially when our 3 pt shooting is not going well.
