  • Texas Tech Frosh PG Nimari Burnett to transfer

Wasn’t getting much PT with Mac McClung getting the majority of the minutes for Tech. USC was heavily involved with Nimari during his recruitment.

We seem to do better with grad transfers that put up good numbers at smaller schools than transfers that flamed out at other programs (ie Aaron, Thornton).

Yep absolutely right & the staff has gone away from bringing in those type of transfers.

wow. this surprises me at least from the standpoint that all of our guards should be back next season with the freebie year. nimari is a 5-star with immediate nba dreams (i suspect, dont know for sure) that will require immediate playing time.

but then again, he'd still have 4 years of eligibility and would basically run the team for a few years along with ethan & reese after 2021-2022.

Surprised by this as well. I guess it’s only right our staff reaches out & gauge his interest. I personally don’t see it happening, not with the current make up of the current squad & like you mentioned, the potential of our guards coming back next season + Malik Thomas + Reese Dixon Waters being a bit more seasoned.

sounds like your trojans will be running quite a bit of 4 out 1 in

Like you mentioned, we have two guards coming in and pieces at PG still on this roster. I would LOVE for us to get a grad transfer next year who's more like a Rajon Rondo because I think our roster is missing a pure passer. Someone with experience who can handle the ball in closing time rather than a highly rated recruit who is raw and still susceptible to those problems. After that passes, we should go all out for a stud PG in '22 (Trimble)

looking at your roster, you need a solid BIG backup...that Long Beach transfer is a solid rim protector...
          Working...
