  • Well any chance of an upset of Stanford, remote as that was, just got harder

Stanford once ranked #1, lost to Colorado 77-72 in OT in Boulder and then last night lost to #6 ucla 70-66 up north. The Women of Troy get the Cardinal next tomorrow. No matter how well SC plays, I just don't see Stanford losing 3 games in a row. Thoughts?

Stanford has not played well their last two games and having to spend their entire season on the road due to Santa Clara county restrictions may be catching up with them. Nevertheless, I feel they have too much talent and coaching on their side to lose a 3rd straight game. Trojans will have to come out strong, smart, and confident to keep up.

Did we lose Pili again? She had a bad fall early in the game and never returned. These injuries are plaguing the WOT and seem to be more abundant in this squad than among other teams.

I believe that Pili was lost again due to a recurrence of her ankle injury, although initially it looked like the Stanford players knee went into hers. She returned in the second half with one foot in a sandal, carrying her basketball shoe. As I brought up in another thread here, it just seems like SC is cursed, if it wasn't for bad luck, SC would have none at all.

Right now they cannot buy an outside shot. Jordan Sanders still is our most consistent scorer and best athlete but made 4-10 shots and fouled out. Endya missed 11 shots (8-19) and Angel Jackson missed 10 shots (5-15, mostly from 2 feet). Shalexxus is still trying to get used to basketball again after 2 years out, so they really miss Madison Campbell and Alyson Miura to nail down the 3s. They actually looked good in the first quarter and were hanging with Stanford, until Pili went down. Oh well, as I said in the original post in this thread, Stanford was not going to lose 3 in a row.

Totally agree. There was no way Stanford would lose a third game in a row. And, you are totally right. It seemed like too many shots simply weren't going in today. Things looked competitive with Pili in the starting line up, but once she left, this was a whole new team that lost its rhythm.

Outrebounded 53-22. That kind of differential should never happen.

In other news: No. 19 Arkansas takes down No. 3 UConn and unranked Virginia Tech takes down No. 2 NC State in OT. Love to see the parity and fight!
