SC was coasting in the first half having hit several 3s and leading at one point 31-18 before allowing a run by Colorado that brought them to within 33-30 at half. In the second half, SC simply did not show up. Colorado was the clear aggressor wanting the game more and outhustling the Trojans. They played tougher, with more effort and eventually won by 10 pts 66-56. Colorado grabbed 13 offensive boards to 4 for the Trojans, in total SC was outrebounded 43-24, not acceptable. SC was outscored by 9 at the FT line. SC uncharacteristically had, only 7 FT attempts to CUs 18.
Individually, Pili was the only player in double figures with 12 points in 27 minutes, She was 6-12, with 3 turnovers. Noticeably absent in the scoring column, Endya Rogers was 1-9 shooting and scored only 4 points. She was very passive most of the game, until the last couple of minutes, but by then it was too late. The team needs her to bring her A-game every game as they rely on her heavily to break down defenses and also to drain the floaters and outside shots. In the good news department Jordan Sanders returned, but had a heavy knee brace on her left leg which hampered her. Angel Jackson was also back but had only 4 pts while turning the ball over 3 times in only 13 minutes.
I have to make a comment about Coach Trakh. I question why he plays Kyra White so much, especially when SC is behind. She does not even pretend to be a threat to shoot the ball, so on offense it's like playing 4 on 5. She hustles and plays well on defense, but really needs to show something offensively to stay out there, in my opinion.
